Just as I’m preparing my microformats presentation for Refresh Doylestown 9 (on June 13 if you’re interested), Emily Lewis publishes another great microformats article. This time she’s looking at the value-class-pattern.
The value-class-pattern was developed in response to potential accessibility, usability, and internationalization issues caused by use of the datetime-design-pattern.
Emily covers the flexibility of the value-class-pattern, goes over different markup options, and summarizes her opinion of each. It’s time to update my markup, and this article will be my guide.

-
Create content that is useful and meaningful to my audience.
- Findability
-
Ensure that my audience can find my content.
- Accessibility
-
Ensure that my audience can access my content regardless of physical or mental ability.
- Interoperability
-
Ensure that my audience can access my content regardless of user agent or other technology.
- Usability
-
Generally conform to audience expectations and conventions of the medium.
